Prepaid Card Industry Introduction
The prepaid and stored value card industry is well established as a cohesive marketplace. Almost non-existent 10 years ago, the prepaid card industry has grown rapidly, and successfully electronified payments in many categories, both domestically and internationally: Corporate and Consumer; and Unbanked, Underserved and Payroll. The prepaid and stored value card industry is already recognized as a critical part of the payments landscape. Growth in numbers of cards issued, transaction volume, and dollars loaded and spent on prepaid and stored value cards continues to rise dramatically.
Leadership
Andrew Phillips is a 26-year veteran of the payment processing industry. Phillips has spent his career creating leading edge technology, sales strategies and operational systems needed for the building and expansion of ISO's specializing in the merchant acquiring space. Twice Phillips has built and sold two such companies and he is now in the early stages of the third.
Phillips has owned and operated several payment-processing companies, including CheckRite, a check recovery franchise, Integrated Transaction Services, a full-service processing independent sales organization that specialized in electronic benefits transfers and Payment Resources International. His technology expertise led him to develop some of the industry's top processing technologies, including Transaction CentralT, a Web-based credit card and ACH terminal that features all the functionality of an electronic countertop terminal.
Using his unique experience and background, Phillips built his last company into a leading processing company specializing in emerging markets and alternative strategic verticals. Under Phillips' leadership, the company demonstrated above-average portfolio growth with below-average merchant attrition.
As president and founder of CardFlex Inc, Phillips is now focusing on identifying and achieving the opportunities currently available in the Stored Value and Pre-paid market with a focus on providing a superior product and service standard for businesses and the evolving consumer market.
A highly successful entrepreneur, Phillips is also committed to community service. He owns and operates Accelerate Trainings, an educational company that uses state-of-the-art seminars, professional personal coaching, and multi-media products to help individuals and groups perform at peak capacity. He has served as vice chairman of the Make A Wish Foundation of Orange County, and has been very involved in the revitalization of the YMCA also in Orange County.
